William Owen Todd

November 17, 1929 — April 12, 2019

Mr. William O. “Bill” Todd passed away peacefully at his home near Macon, MS on the evening of April 12, 2019. Mr. Bill, a native of Brooksville, MS and a son of the “late” Archie and Nellie Triplett Todd, had lived in Macon since 1996.  His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 16 at 10:00 A.M. from Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel in Macon with Bro. Steve Galloway officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Oddfellows Cemetery in Macon. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services Tuesday. The family requests that any memorials be directed to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 510,  Macon, MS. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is honored to be allowed to serve this family.

Mr. Bill grew up in Brooksville MS and graduated from Brooksville High School. He joined the U.S. Army in 1949 and served his country in the Korean Conflict. After returning from military service, he worked for the Borden Plant in Macon for two years and for B&W Boiler Works in West Point, MS for nine years. During ten years of this time he was a member of the Mississippi Army National Guard. Mr. Bill moved to Florida where he worked as a deputy sheriff for about seven years and also worked for the Florida State Corrections Department.  He then took a job for two years as a commercial carrier for a trucking company out of Auburndale, Fla and also taught CPR classes for the American Red Cross. After returning to Noxubee County, Mr. Bill joined First Baptist Church in Macon where he and his family were very involved. There he was a member of the Ageless Wonders and the Brotherhood. His hobbies included string art and wood working.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Mr. Bill Todd is survived by his wife: Marianna K. Todd and one son: Robert D. “Bobby” Todd, both of Macon. He is also survived by three sisters: Ida Faye Oglesby and Helen Iris Harris, both of St. Cloud, Fla. and by Bonnie Hammett of Corinth, MS and by one brother: J.K. Todd of Piscataway, NJ. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son: William Owen Todd, Jr. and by siblings: Nellie Margaret Hizer, David Todd, and Roscoe Todd.
