Ken Boykin was born in Macon, MS to the late William H. and Annie Louise Moore Boykin on March 26, 1949. He graduated from Noxubee County High School and began working for United Parcel Service in management in the Jackson, MS area for thirteen years. In 1981, he left UPS and returned to Macon to enter into a partnership in Noxubee Auto Body Shop with his brother-in-law Dean Poag. This partnership continued until 1994, when Ken became the sole owner of the shop. Ken faithfully served his community at the body shop until recently when ill-health forced him to be hospitalized.
Ken was a long-time and much beloved member of Calvary Baptist Church in Macon where he served as a Deacon and as the Sunday school teacher of an adult class. He faithfully supported both the domestic and foreign mission programs of the church in every way that he could. Ken loved the Lord Jesus Christ and shared his Savior with everyone that he came in contact with, even up to his last days in the hospital. He lived each day for itself and in every action or word during that day he reflected the love of his Lord. Ken was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed both fresh and salt-water fishing and also hunting with his family and friends. He enjoyed raising chickens and kept his church family members supplied with eggs for many years. His most favorite pastimes were the hours he spent with his grandsons, who were his pride and joy. Ken’s passing into life eternal leaves a void in our church, our community and especially in all our lives, but all who knew and loved Ken here can see him again in Heaven through faith in Jesus Christ.
Ken Boykin is survived by his wife of 51 years: Patricia C. Boykin; his daughter: Tina B Hunter and his son: Kenny Ray Boykin. He is also survived by three grandsons: Mitchell Boykin, Zach Boykin, and Tyler Hunter and by one sister: Joy Stockdale and one brother: Ricky Boykin.
