Wanda Williams Lackey, 59, of Macon, MS passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021 at Merit Health Rankin, Brandon, MS. A graveside service was held Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Soule Chapel Cemetery near Macon, MS with Bro. Bill Ross officiating. Memorials may be made to Operation Christmas Child, c/o Calvary Baptist Church, 105 Dent St., Macon, MS 39341, or the donor’s choice. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
Wanda was born on April 8, 1961 in Macon, MS to the late Ernest Luther and Minnie Bell Patterson Williams. She graduated from Central Academy in Macon MS. and worked for a short time at Louisville Health Care until she became disabled. Wanda lived with her parents until she was unable to stay at home and then she then moved to Noxubee County Nursing Home in 2002 where she lived until her death. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and where she attended the Ladies Sunday School Class. Wanda enjoyed coloring, painting, and playing games on her computer. She was a people person who enjoyed visiting and talking with people when she could. Wanda is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Alvin Williams.
Wanda is survived by two sons: Chris Lackey and Brad Lackey; sister, Debbie Thaggard; two brothers, Wayne Williams, and Tommy Williams; and four grandchildren.
