Wanda Faye Adams

Mrs. Wanda Adams, 70, of Shuqualak, MS passed away at Noxubee County Nursing Home on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 26 at 10:00 A.M. at Butler Pentecostal Church with Bro. Ronnie Cartwright, Bro. Gerald Butler, and Bro. Danny Ray Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in Butler Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. The family requests that no flowers be sent, but that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon, MS is honored to be entrusted with the service arrangements.

Wanda Whitehead was born in Louisville, MS on May 22, 1948 to the late Charles Ben and Lillie Mae Garrard Whitehead. She attended the Nanih Waiya School and then married her sweetheart, Bobby Adams. Wanda enjoyed being around children, having grown up in a large family, and so devoted her entire life to working with children as a child care giver. She loved each child that she took care of and treated them all like they were her own children. Wanda’s selflessness extended to everyone, as she always put others ahead herself. Wanda loved Jesus and enjoyed attending services at Macon Pentecostal Church, where she was a longtime member. She always loved listening to gospel music and spending time with her family.

Wanda saw several members of her family preceded her in death, including her parents and three brothers. She is survived by her husband: Bobby Adams of Shuqualak and her daughter: Rhonda Vernon (Ricky) also of Shuqualak. She also leaves to mourn her passing one sister: Kathy Martin (Robert) and Gary Whitehead and Jesse Whitehead, all of Louisville, MS. as well as four grandchildren: Kyle Vernon (Christina), Cody Vernon, Lori Jolly, and Leah (Jason) Wylie  and four great-grandchildren: Madelyn Holley (J.T.), Logan Young, Haden and Jaleigh Wylie.
