Walter "Pete" Herman Boykin

Walter H. “Pete” Boykin, 76, of Shuqualak, MS  passed  away Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Noxubee County Nursing Home. A funeral service will be held at Butler Pentecostal Church Monday, July 8, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will follow in Butler Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until service time at the church.  Memorials may be made to Butler Cemetery, c/o Willis Jones, 991 Johnny Higginbotham Rd, Shuqualak,  MS  39361.  Cockrell Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Walter Herman “Pete” Boykin was born on May 26, 1943 in Brooksville, MS to the late Charles Cockrell and Bessie Mae Boykin.  Pete attended Macon High School. On June 29, 1963, he married Sherlene Butler . He worked different jobs until he and his son went into the logging business. Later he opened Shuqualak Salvage and worked there until ill health forced him to retire. Pete was a loving father and grandfather and was known by his grandchildren as Pa-Pa Pete.  He was a member of Butler Pentecostal Church.   He is preceded in death by his parents;  his wife, Sherlene Boykin; and three brothers: Earl Boykin, William Gray Boykin and Charlie Boykin, Jr.

Pete is survived by his children: Sherrie Eaves (Phillip) of Macon, MS, Sandy Eaves (Allen) of Preston, MS, and Bill Boykin (Angie) of Preston, MS; two sisters: Jo Ladner (Sonny) of Gulf Shores, AL, and Mary Lou Morton of Starkville, MS; one brother: Jessie Boykin (Lovie Mae) of Pascagoula, MS; thirteen grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
