Mrs. Virginia Zgarba, 93, formerly of Brooksville, MS, passed away Monday, December 9, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center. A funeral service is planned for Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Brooksville Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Brooksville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church thirty minutes prior to the service. Memorials may be made to International Mission Board, 3806 Monument Ave., Richmonde, VA 23230. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements. 

Virginia Zgarba was born to Jay and Knoxie Cornwell in Sinton TX February 4, 1931. She graduated from Sinton High School and married Jerry Zgarba of Taylor TX shortly thereafter. She lived her adult life in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Virginia was an outgoing extrovert and easily made friends wherever she lived. She saw living in each new place as an adventure. Virginia loved reading, writing, sewing and birdwatching. She was a great storyteller and had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by her son Frank Zgarba, her husband Jerry Zgarba and grandson Nathan Holt.

Virginia is survived by her daughters. Jerry Susan Holt and Cindy Brunson. Her surviving grandchildren are Scotty Brunson, Mandi Brunson, Drew Brunson, Tommy Brunson, Jonny Brunson, Michael Brunson, Kyle Crider (Melissa), Tabitha Marlar (Chris), Anna Coker (Paul), Caleb Holt (Rebecca), Amy Holt and Jacob Holt. Surviving great grandchildren are Levi Marlar (Lauren), Landon Marlar, Ky Crider, Kaitlyn Crider, Jake Coker, Webb Coker, Howard Holt, Elaine Holt, Greer Brunson Fenske, Issac Brunson, Emily Brunson, Violet Brunson and honorary great granddaughter Marely Sayago. One great great grandson Waylon Marlar.
