Susan Kay Creekmore (May), 68, of Shady Valley, TN passed away on December 15th, 2024. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Memorial Gardens, 176 S Frontage Rd., Columbus, MS. Susan May, a native of MS, was a graduate of Caldwell HS in Columbus, MS and received her associate’s degree from MSCW in Columbus, MS.
Susan was a Civil Service employee at Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Osan Air Base in South Korea. She also held a position with Mississippi State University, as well as working for the Department of Defense in Jefferson City, MO. Susan recently retired from MO Vocational Enterprises, dedicating nearly30 years of service as a Program Coordinator.
Susan May was a beautiful soul with a tremendously kind heart who was loved and adored by family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues. She was best known for her loyalty, honesty, kind nature and animal rescue efforts. Susan had a wonderful work ethic and was an animal activist, volunteering her time at the local shelter. She helped raise funds for not only the care and medical needs of her furry friends but also helped spearhead initiatives for a new facility. Susan was heavily involved in her community, always helping those in need and spending her remaining days in her dream location in the mountains of TN.
Susan is survived by her daughter Pamela Lantry of FL; her 3 granddaughters Ashleigh Lantry, Payton Lantry and Taylor Lantry of FL; her niece, Melanie (Walter) Hines of MS; her nephews Jim (Sandi) Mapp and John Mapp; her cousin Janis Stark of TN; and great and great-great nieces and nephews, along with many more extended family members who will miss her dearly. Susan is preceded in death by her parents Sarah Marguerite Dickert and John Henry Creekmore of MS; her brother Douglas Hicks of FL; her sister Virginia Mapp of MS.
Susan had such a positive impact on every life she touched. She will be tremendously missed by all who had the honor of knowing her. Contributions can be made to any local animal advocacy organization in her memory.
