Scotty Reed was born at the hospital in Macon, MS on March 3, 1963, to Earl and Mary Anna Moore Reed and lived his entire life in Shuqualak, MS. He was a graduate of Central Academy, Class of 1981, who immediately went to work upon graduation. His various employers included Delta Shuqualak Brick Company, Presley Construction, and E.F. Nunn and Co. In the early 1990s, Scotty opened his auto body repair shop in Shuqualak and operated it until ill health forced his retirement. He also helped in the family pulp-wood business and drove a log truck part-time. His C.B. handle was “Slow-Poke”, which was a testament to his careful driving of the truck. Scotty enjoyed fishing but he loved to watch his daughters play softball. Most of all, he treasured the time that he was able to spend with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Scotty Reed is survived by his daughters: Emma West (Johnny) of Shuqualak, MS and Layne Reed (Chris Johnson) of Tupelo, MS. He also leaves behind his sister: Amy Vandevender (Barry) of Preston, MS and his brother: Mike Reed (Jean) of Scooba, MS as well as his beloved grandchildren: Brody West, John Parker West, Hayes West, Carter Johnson, and two step grandchildren: Ally and Kendal Johnson.
