Sandra Jackson Heiser

February 22, 1948 — November 1, 2021

Sandra Heiser (better known as Sandy), passed away Monday, November 1, 2021, in Anderson Hospital, Meridian, Mississippi. She was born in Lafayette, Indiana on February 22, 1948 to Katheryn Jackson. Sandy had no siblings.

When Sandy was a young girl, her mother needed institutional help, leaving her in the care of her grandmother, Clara Jackson. Sandy grew to adulthood in this home, being reared in the Catholic faith.

In time, Sandy met a young man by the name of Paul Heiser, whom she married. Three children: Adam, Shannon, and Kimberly, were born to them.

Paul and Sandy experienced a spiritual awakening in their early married life, partly due to the influence of a Christian young lady from India, Jayaprada by name. She urged them to travel to East Mississippi and get acquainted with the Mennonites. Eventually they moved to Noxubee County. Paul and Sandy were baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite at Brooksville on May 7, 1978. Through many storms and tests, Sandy remained a member of the Brooksville Congregation until her passing.

In 1987 Paul and Sandy and children spent a short stay of nine months in the Glenn, California community. Sandy made different close friendships there.

In later years Sandy was left alone to maintain a home. Her motherly desire and hope for Shannon’s emotional wellbeing and conversion were often expressed. She tried to teach us good values, including being kind to others. She strove to provide for herself and Shannon, not wanting to be dependent on others. In all her difficulties we believe was the intention to do what she believed was right. Knowing that God is especially gracious to the disadvantaged, we trust her into His merciful hands.

Sandy was creative and talented. Many of her friends have ceramic items she made and painted. She was also a lover of the outdoors. She often told us of her fond dreams to have a small place in the country where she could enjoy her animals, which were cared for in a very personal way.

Surviving are her three children: Adam and fiancée, Alicia Adams and son Alex, Brooksville, Mississippi; Shannon, also of Brooksville, Mississippi; and Kimberly and husband Andy James and their three children: Kaylee, Brandon, and Kelsey, Scio, Oregon. She often spoke with great admiration of her grandchildren. One aunt and several cousins also remain.
