Robert C. “Bob” Denny, 75, of Shuqualak, MS passed away at Baptist Hospital – Kosciusko on Thursday, September 24, 2020. His funeral service will be held at graveside at Mashulaville Cemetery near Macon, MS on Saturday, September 26 at 1:00 P.M.  Bro. Walt Tessier will officiate the services. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project,  4899 Belfort Road,  Suite 300,  Jacksonville, FL 32256. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is honored to be handling the service arrangements.

Bob was the son of the late Frank Val Denny and Velma Conn Denny and was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 17, 1945. At age fourteen, Bob moved to the Yellow Creek Community and on June 15, 1963 he entered the U. S. Army. He served in Vietnam during the war and served two tours in West Germany. Bob was the recipient of the Purple Heart, a Bronze Star, and numerous other medals. He was known as a solider’s soldier.  He was a demolitions expert and taught demolitions to his fellow soldiers during his service. In 1968, Bob married the love of his life, Betty Conner Denny.  He was honorably discharged from the military on September 4, 1970. When he returned from service, he graduated from Meridian Community College with a degree in electronics.

After completing college, Bob began working as a truck driver for Miller Transport, a trucking company, and held several other trucking related jobs with the company during his thirty-year career there. Bob was a staunch Christian and for several years was the Young People’s Sunday School Teacher at Wahalak Baptist Church. Bob was a gun and knife trader and was a hunting activist. He also loved his dog, Kobalt. Bob is preceded in death by her parents, sister: Anne Denny Bartz and two nephews: David and Wade Williams.

Bob is survived by his wife: Betty Connor Denny of Shuqualak and by his “Brother” Frank Jenkins of Macon
