Rebecca Norman Pannell

Mrs. Rebecca J. (Becky Jane) Pannell, 82, passed away on Monday, September 27, 2022, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 12:00 P.M. (noon) at Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jared Glover and Bro. Gerald Butler officiating. Interment will follow in Brooksville Cemetery in Brooksville, MS. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until service time Sunday. Any memorials are requested to be made to Soul Harbor Pentecostal Church P.O. Box 474 Shuqualak, MS 39361. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of the service arrangements.

Rebecca Jane (Becky Jane) Norman was born on September 6, 1940, in Rockwood, Tennessee to the late William Henry and Pearl Inez Early Norman. She attended local schools in the Rockwood area until the family moved to Macon, MS when Becky Jane was in grade school. She graduated from Macon High School. While she was in high school, Becky Jane worked at Al’s Cash Grocery and Lane’s Dairy and Store. After graduation she continued to work at Al’s Cash Grocery for a number of years and later began working at the Piggly-Wiggly store in Macon until it closed. She then began working for Tem’s Food Market in Brooksville where she worked until her retirement.  Becky Jane was an active member of the Brooksville Pentecostal Church until it’s closing at which point she and her husband began worshipping at Soule Harbor Pentecostal Church in Shuqualak. She enjoyed visiting with her family and friends and fishing. She loved to cook her husband’s favorite meals and worshipping at her church.

Rebecca Jane Pannell is survived by her husband: Charles; her two sisters: Shirley Higginbotham of Lebanon, TN and Edna Fulgham of Clarksville, TN and her two brothers: John Boykin of Baldwin, MS and William Norman of Saltillo, MS. She also leaves behind a number of dearly beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister: Allene Contesas and a brother: James (Bo) Boykin.
