Becky Wilson Thomas

Rebecca Marie (Becky) Wilson Thomas, 65, of Wahalak, MS passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Anderson Hospital in Meridian, MS. Her funeral service will be held at Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until service time. Memorials are requested to be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Way Memphis, TN 38105. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the service arrangements.

Rebecca Marie Wilson was born in Flint, Michigan on January 31, 1957 to the late Hubert Campbell (Pop-Eye) Wilson and Geraldine Louise White Wilson. Her family returned to Kemper County, MS while Becky was a small child. She was educated in and graduated from the Kemper County School system and later also graduated from East Mississippi Junior College (now known as EMCC). She owned and operated the Porterville Grocery convenience store for over twenty years and after it’s closing, Becky began working for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier. She continued to work for the USPS until her retirement. She enjoyed cooking, riding horses, and fishing. Becky loved spending time with her family, especially the time spent with her grandchildren.

Becky Thomas is survived by her husband: Terry; her daughter: Vicki (Chrissy) Berning (Dale) of Greenville, Ohio and her sons: Jason Thomas Kinard (Ashley) of Philadelphia, MS and Brooks Thomas of Wahalak, MS. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren and her three sisters: Alice Kingery, Vicki Cheatham, and Beth-Ann Johnson.
