Doug Sennett was born in Amory, MS on January 24,1951 to the late James Ralph Sennett and Bernadean Tucker Sennett. With the exception of a few years spent in El Paso, TX with his father, who was in the U.S. Army, Doug spent his youth in Noxubee County, MS with his Sennett grandparents. After becoming an adult, he remained in Noxubee County for the rest of his life. Doug was well known as a great mechanic. He also worked with local farming operations for several years. He and his wife built the Brooksville Truck Stop and Service Center which they owned and operated for over ten years. He was also active in law enforcement by serving as a Constable in Noxubee County for many years. Doug later graduated from the Law Enforcement Academy in Pearl, MS and still holds the honor of being the only one-handed person to ever graduate from there. He served for several years as a police officer for the City of Macon and the Town of Brooksville. Doug enjoyed tinkering with anything that would not work and could usually repair it. He also did some woodworking and grew lots of vegetables in his tub garden. Doug spent the last few years of his life helping Bill Randall with his farming operation. Doug loved his dogs and his wife Brenda’s cat, of which he claimed a half-ownership.
Doug Sennett is survived by his wife: Brenda Hines Sennett of Brooksville; his daughter: Cheryl Dietz (Stephen) of Corpus Christi, TX; and by his sons: William Sennett of Jackson, MS and Michael Sennett of Brooksville, MS. He also leaves behind a half-brother: Ronnie Miller of Florida as well as eight grandchildren (soon to be nine) and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
