Peggy was born on March 29, 1941 to the late Harroll Dodds and Dulcia B. Jackson Heflin. She was a graduate of West Point High School Class of 1959. Peggy began working at the Registrar’s Office of Mississippi State University immediately after high school graduation. She met her husband, Wayne, there and married in 1963. She continued to work until the birth of their daughter in 1966. In 1970, her son was born, and she continued being a full time mother until 1979. She went back to work at MSU as an administrative assistant for the Extension Home Economics Department until she retired. Peggy and her husband owned a beef cattle farm. Peggy enjoyed reading, counted-cross stitch, and helping her husband tend to the cattle. She and Wayne loved attending gospel singings with friends. Peggy began singing at her church at age thirteen and greatly enjoyed blessing others by singing hymns at Bethesda Baptist Church and other local churches. Her greatest joy came when spending time with her grandchildren, fishing with them, in particular, and rocking her great granddaughters. She is preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter.
Those left to miss Peggy are her beloved husband of sixty one years, Wayne; a daughter: Jeanie Dewberry (Mark); a son: Judd Gentry (Lacey); six grandchildren: Kelsey Webb (Marshall), Dalton Dewberry (Grace), Bailey Dewberry, Anne Jordan Gentry Cole (Harris), Anderson Gentry and Jamison Gentry; two great granddaughters: Lindie Webb and Eliza Dewberry; and two sisters: Linda Gentry and Harriet Doyle (Cleat).
