Pat, as she was known to all her many friends and family, was born in Attica, Indiana on May 13, 1933. She was born to the late Lawrence Earl and Clarabelle Lohmeyer Bannon. She was a graduate of Attica High School who then pursued a career in the medical field by graduating from nursing school at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind. Over her forty year career Pat practiced nursing in four states: Indiana, Illinois, Alabama, and Mississippi, where she served for a time as Director of Nurses at Noxubee General Hospital in Macon, MS. As a nurse, she was always very professional and always did her utmost to give the patients under her charge the very best nursing care that she could. Pat married the love of her life on July 25, 1954, Charles “Bud” Swanson, also of Attica, and together they enjoyed nearly 64 years of matrimony. Shortly before retirement, she and Charles made their home in Eutaw, Al where she was a faithful attendee of the First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed reading and collecting antique dishes. She also collected cookbooks and, being a wonderful cook herself, used recipes from them to create delicious meals for her family. She helped Charles sell their very popular homemade ice cream for seven years. Over the course of the family moves and her work at various hospitals, Pat had made a multitude of friends with whom she continued to keep in touch with through the years. She loved to travel but enjoyed being at home as well with her family so that she could enjoy her grandchildren. While living in Mississippi, Pat enjoyed hosting along with her family their annual Labor Day Bar-be-ques at their farm in Prairie Point, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister: Martha B. Smith; and an infant daughter: Jeanette Susanne Swanson.
Pat is survived by her husband: Charles(Bud), of Eutaw, Al; one daughter: Sally Robbins(Larry)of Macon, MS as well as by three sons: Danny Swanson of Macon; Bruce Swanson (Sherri) of Kennedy, AL; and Steven Swanson (Rhonda)of Wahalak, MS and by one sister: Rita Bannon Mollison of Sebastopol, CA.
