Her early years and childhood were spent on the family farm near Moundridge, Kansas. She was the youngest of eight children, and they all learned what it meant to work. This lesson was one that was passed on to her children. She received her elementary education at the Farms School. As a family, they endured the difficult times of the depression and learned many valuable lessons of life. To this day she was careful of the money that was spent.
When she was fourteen, she answered God’s call to salvation, and upon the confession of her faith she was baptized April 6, 1941, by Min. Jesse Johnson. She thus became a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, embracing this faith until the end.
She found her life’s companion in Lester Yost, whom she dearly loved. They were married in a double wedding ceremony with her sister Rhoda and Harvey Unruh, on April 21, 1946, and spent their first 26 years in the Hesston, Kansas area. To this union were born three sons and three daughters. In 1973 Lester and Molly, together with their two youngest children, moved to a farm in Macon, MS. After farming for many years, they moved to a small house near Macon where they found employment at Trailboss Trailers. She enjoyed baking chocolate chip cookies for those who worked there. For many years they enjoyed delivering trailers for the company with Mom as the navigator.
Our parents were very appreciative of the privilege they had to spend their remaining retirement years at the Oakwood Community. They spent 69 happy years together, and it was a source of deep sorrow when four years ago Dad passed away, leaving her very lonely. Very recently she again expressed her desire to go to Heaven, leaving a clear testimony that all was well.
Mom was a very virtuous woman, never complaining of the work she was called to do. There were many meals prepared for neighbors. She was a lover of flowers and always found a way to express her love and appreciation in the many bouquets and arrangements for those who were in need. She was a very out going person and made friends wherever she went. Mom was a praying mother, and we know she often-times prayed for us children, mentioning us by name. We remember her especially caring for those who were hurting and going through a difficult time.
Those cherishing precious memories are her children: Dale and wife Cindy, Lakin, KS; Arlo and wife, Esther, Paxton, NE; Arlene and husband, Bob Boeckner, Macon, MS; Larry and wife Joanne, Sutherland, NE; Carol and husband, Leonard Koehn, Scotia, NE; 20 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Koehn, one brother-in-law Clayton and wife Maxine; one sister-in-law Rose Yost. Nephews, nieces, and many friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lester, one daughter, Mary Ellen, three brothers, Ruben, Raymond, and Ed; three sisters, Frances, Frieda, and Rhoda.
