Mildred Eaves Higginbotham

Mrs. Mildred Eaves Higginbotham of Shuqualak, MS passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the Bee Hive Assisted Living in Louisville, MS. She was 88 years old. She was born in Shuqualak on January 28, 1930 to the late Leland and Theola Adcock Eaves and grew up in the Shuqualak area where she attended the Shuqualak School. On August 19, 1946, Mildred married Lamar Higginbotham and together they made their home near Shuqualak. She was a long-time member of Butler Pentecostal Church.  For many years, she worked as a seamstress at the Macon Pants Factory. Mildred was known in the community for having a green thumb and always had a large garden and beds full of beautiful flowers. She would spend hours working in her yard keeping it neat and orderly. Mildred enjoyed time spent with her friends and family, no matter whether she was at church or at a family gathering. She especially loved spending time with her grand- and great-grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Lamar Higginbotham; her son: Roger Higginbotham and by one daughter: Debbie Eaves. She is also preceded in death by her four brothers: Ray, Robert, Earl, and Archie Eaves; a sister: Flora Eaves and a granddaughter: Danielle Eaves.

Mildred is survived by three daughters: Barb Largio (Tony) of Louisville, MS; Janice Martin (Randy) of Shuqualak, MS; and Lisa Abraham (Rick) of Trenton, GA. as well as by seven grandchildren; Lynn, Rocky, Angie, Beth, Hannah, Todd and TJ;  fifteen great-grandchildren;  Meagan, Jordan, Samantha, Taylor, Martin, Cleve, Leland, Danielle, Emma, Parker, Beau, Jude, Jessica, Amber, and Justin. and two great-great-grandchildren; Levi and Aubree.

Mildred Higginbotham’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 8, at 12:00 noon at Butler Pentecostal Church near Shuqualak. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the church. Interment in Butler Cemetery will immediately follow the funeral service. Memorials are requested to be made to the Butler Cemetery Fund % Willis Jones  991 Johnny Higginbotham Road Shuqualak, MS 39361. Serving as pallbearers will be Todd Eaves, TJ Randall, Rocky Higginbotham, Justin Payne, Robert Higginbotham, Ronnie Higginbotham and John David Higginbotham.  Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Eaves, Eddie Coleman, Jimmy Coleman, Tommy Coleman, Jordan Higginbotham, Martin Coleman, Cleve Coleman, Ryan Bostick, Willis Jones and Bill Jones.  Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is honored to be entrusted with the service arrangements.
