Mike W Syfrett

April 27, 1956 — June 14, 2021

Mike Syfrett, 65, of Macon, MS went to his heavenly home on Monday, June 14, 2021 at his residence in Macon, MS.  A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Concord Baptist Church in Macon, MS at 10:00 a.m. The family requests that those attending his service wear happy colors.  Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Michael Leroy Syfrett... some knew him as the “International man of mystery”, fell asleep on June 14, 2021, and woke up in heaven. He was born on April 27, 1956, in Bakersfield Ca. He spent his toddler years overseas and spoke Japanese before he spoke English. He graduated from Foothill High-school in Bakersfield and was in the military for 10 years (Navy & Coast Guard) He moved to Macon MS in 1989. He was employed by Lavender welding for 25 years; they were his other family.

A plain short sleeve tee with a single pocket on front and a pair of jeans was his personal fashion statement no matter what I put in his closet. He hated cats and daylight savings time. He was a methodical perfectionist, every week on the same day at the same time he wound the grandfather clock and made sure it was precise to the second, he loved routine. He also loved trivia. Sci-Fi movies were his favorite. He was a pessimist to his core, and extremely smart. He absolutely loved music but couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket, he always said he couldn’t wait to sing in the choir in heaven and he is singing now. He loved Jesus, me and his family but most of all he was my friend. He left this earth with his sense of humor intact but did not go silently into the night. He was superseded in death by his brother (Danny), his father (Cecil) and his mother (Bobbie) in that order.

We married 42 days after we met and made it 39 years 11 months. In those years he fathered 3 beautiful girls (Lesley, Sarah (Josh), and Shannon (Jon) and they gave him 7 wonderful grandchildren (Austin, Eden, Luna) (Sam, Ariel) (Nora ,Malachi). He is survived by his two sisters Tanya Syfrett and Lisa Endsley.

His presence will be sorely missed but he left a lifetime of memories that will always be cherished by friends and family. If you had the chance to know him, count yourself privileged.
