April 14, 1962 — July 10, 2023

Melissa Ann Mosley, 61, of Scooba, MS passed away with her family by her side, Monday, July 10, 2023, at UMMC in Jackson, MS.  A memorial service is planned for Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at Scooba Presbyterian Church, 675 Kemper St., Scooba, MS 39358.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Memorials can be made to Cedar Lawn Cemetery, P.O. Box 52, Scooba, MS  39358. Honorary pallbearers are Kenny Koehn, Brett Koehn, John Avila, Paul Howard, Ben Williams, Johnny Milling, Frankie Russell, and all the crew at the camp houses.  Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Melissa Ann Baty Mosley was born April 14, 1962, to Nancy Wilson Baty and the late Billy Ray Baty. She was a lifetime resident of Scooba, MS. Melissa was a graduate of Kemper Academy, Class of 1980, attended East Mississippi Junior College and was a member of the Lions Dance team. Melissa graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She retired from East Mississippi Community College as the Chief Financial Officer in December of 2020.

Melissa enjoyed going to the beach in Destin/Sea Grove, Florida area. She loved watching Ole Miss football, baseball, and softball. She was a big fan of the New Orleans Saints and attended many games alongside friends from the camp. Melissa looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren in the swimming pool and watching them play sports. Melissa often fished in the lakes behind her home. She was an avid reader and worked puzzles every holiday with her family. She watched funny movies that made her laugh. Melissa had a great time with family and friends at the camp houses. Melissa was preceded in death by her father, Billy Ray Baty; brother, Bradley Edward Baty; father-in-law, Terry Mosley; and sister-in-law, Terri Lynn Howard.

Melissa is survived by her beloved husband and best friend of thirty-eight years, Jimbo Mosley; her daughter, Kayla Mosley and her two children, Keller and Dakota Mosley; a son, Lake Mosley, and his wife Deavon and their two children, Brody and Micah; her mother, Nancy Baty, and two sisters, Denise Koehn and Sharon Avila.
