Maxine Robinson was born on January 11,1944 to the late John Harold and Lois McDaniel Robinson in Macon, MS. She grew up in the Brooksville, MS area and attended Brooksville High School and also Lee High School in Columbus, MS. During this time she met the man of her dreams and her lifelong soul-mate, Vernon Carter, and they wed on Dec 21, 1961. They made their home in Noxubee County and, after their children became of school age, Mrs. Maxine began working at various jobs outside of the home. While she held many jobs, her most favorite one was at the cafeteria at Central Academy School in Macon. She eventually became the Cafeteria Manager, but that title does not do justice to her actual position at the school. In addition to preparing food for “HER” children (and every child who came through the line to eat was her child), she was also a friend to all, a mentor to many, and a shoulder to cry on when the world seemed to be at it’s worst. She readily took care of students who had forgotten their lunch money and those who had no lunch money to bring. She was a great listener and would often help “talk out” situations with the kids that they felt uncomfortable talking to others about. She was staunch supporter of all of Central Academy’s athletic events and rarely missed any sporting event at home. Her love and care shown at Central Academy influenced hundreds of students over the years and they all remained her pals through the years, no matter where life has taken them. For several years Mrs. Maxine ferried children from the area around her home to and from school. There is an empty spot in the heart of every child, teacher, parent and board member who ever had the privilege of knowing or working with this gentle, loving person.

Mrs. Maxine was a long-time member of her beloved Brooksville Baptist Church. She also played the dulcimer and was a member of the North Mississippi Dulcimer Association. She enjoyed watching football and softball and loved to fish and camp.

Mrs. Maxine is survived by her daughter: Patricia Carter of Brooksville and her son: Vince Carter (Cherish), also of Brooksville, MS. She also leaves behind her sister: Ethel Kinard (Larry) of Louisville as well as her grandchildren: Faith Carter and Mitchell Carter. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son: James Patrick Carter; and one brother: John Robinson.
