He graduated from Avondale High School in Decatur, GA. and was self-employed for most of his working life. Mark was known by his family and friends to be funny and witty.  He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching Alabama football and also the Atlanta Braves play. He also enjoyed watching the western serial “Gunsmoke” and playing Bingo at the nursing home. Mark loved spending time with his sister and her family as often as possible. After a debilitating fall, he spent time in a rehab clinic in Clinton, MS and in 2020 moved to the Noxubee County Nursing Home to be closer to his sister and her family.

Mark is survived by his sister: Melanie McLaughlin Thomas (Anderson) of Macon, MS; one niece: Ashley Thomas Taylor (Michael), also of Macon, and one nephew: Will Thomas (Sophie) of Brandon, MS.  He is also survived by his special “friend,” his niece’s dog Maggie. Mark was preceded in death by his parents.
