Margaret Eunice Patterson

Miss Margaret Eunice Patterson, 71, of Shuqualak, MS, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023, at Anderson Regional Hospital in Meridian, MS.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Shuqualak Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Shuqualak Cemetery.  A visitation will be held at the church from 9-11 a.m. prior to the service.  Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX  75231 or to the Chapel in the Pines c/o EMCC Development Foundation P.O. Box 158, Scooba MS  39358. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Margaret Eunice Patterson was born on October 4, 1951 to the late Brooks and Lillian Patterson of Shuqualak MS. She graduated from Noxubee County High School, continued her education at East Mississippi Junior College and Mississippi State University. She taught kindergarten in the Kemper County School District. After retirement she volunteered as a candy striper at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus MS and at the EMCC library at the Scooba Campus. Although Eunice never married, she had a large extended family including nieces and nephews which she considered her children. Eunice enjoyed supporting her many great nieces and nephews sporting activities and is lovingly remembered for her competitiveness through countless hours of canasta and Rook games. She enjoyed reading, drawing, and leading a ladies Sunday School class at Shuqualak Baptist Church. Eunice is preceded in death by five siblings: Helen Mayo Brandon MS, Harlen ‘Pat’ Patterson Union MS, Horace Patterson of Lauderdale MS, Earlene Grissom of Louisville MS, Brooks Patterson of Shuqualak, MS.

Eunice was survived by her three sisters: Evelyn Hailey of York Al, Dean Sciple of DeKalb MS, and Ruth Anderson of Waverly TN. and numerous nieces and nephews.
