Maralyn (Melly) Waid Moore

Maralyn Waid (Melly) Moore passed away peacefully on November 6, 2023 at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 9 at Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon. Burial will follow in Soule Chapel Cemetery near Macon. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is honored to be entrusted with the service arrangements.

Maralyn Waid was born on June 29, 1946 to the late Robert Jennings and Mary Elizabeth Barnhill Waid in Macon, MS. She grew up in Brooksville, MS and graduated from Noxubee County High School in 1964. She also attended East Mississippi Junior College in Scooba, MS. After college, she worked for the Columbus (MS) Light and Water Department for several years. She married James B. (Snooky) Moore III on August 18, 1968 at Brooksville Methodist Church and they made their home in Macon, MS. Melly was a member of McLeod Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She worked at the Noxubee County Library for seven years. Melly enjoyed being a housewife and homemaker and was actively involved Central Academy where her daughters attended school until their graduation. Melly was active in the Women’s Circle at her church and enjoyed word-search puzzles.

Melly Moore is survived by her husband and by her two daughters: Ann Moore Robertson (Robby) and Jennifer Moore, both of Columbus, MS as well as by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Elizabeth Dell Waid (infant) and Mary Ann Jenkins and one brother: Robert Jennings (Bobby) Waid, Jr.
