Mrs. Lucille Fair Boswell, 96, of Macon, MS passed away Saturday, August 23, 2019 at Carrington Nursing Home in Starkville, MS. A funeral service is planned for Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 3 P.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Oddfellows Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 510, Macon, MS 39341. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
Lucille Fair Boswell was born on October 1, 1922 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Arthur Green and Trannie Moss Fair. She attended school in Pickens County, AL. Lucille was married to Carson Powell for fifteen years. She was married to James Hunter Boswell for over fifty years. He precedes her in death. She worked as a floral designer for her career. She worked a short time in Tuscaloosa, Al. She retired from Parker Florist in Macon, MS at the age of eighty. Lucille was a member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. She also enjoyed yearly beach trips with her husband. Lucille is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Hunter Boswell; a granddaughter, Tara Powell Whitehead; three sisters Helen Strickland, May Strickland, and Kate Ledbetter; six brothers: Jessie Fair, Laverne Fair, Rev. B.B. Fair, Howard Fair, Avery Fair and Harm Fair.
Lucille is survived by two sons: Bill Powell (Judy) of Van Buren, Arkansas and Mike Powell (Cynthia) of Montgomery, AL ; four grandchildren, Justin Powell (Carrie), Zachary Powell (Katie), Alexandra Ingram (Craig) and Debbie Powell; three great-grandchildren: Mary Margaret Powell, Emma Carson Powell and Braden James Powell.
