Linda Marler Horn

Martha Linda Marler Horn, 78, of Brooksville, MS passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Noxubee General Hospital in Macon, MS.  A graveside service will be held at the Brooksville Cemetery in Brooksville, MS June 29 at 9:30 a.m. Pastor Kathy Brackett will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sweet Paws Rescue, P. O. Box 32, Macon, MS, or the charity of choice.  Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Linda, born on November 20, 1945, in Macon, MS, was the daughter of the late Joe Shephard Marler and the late Mary Norwood Marler. She was a lifelong member of Brooksville Baptist Church. After graduating from Noxubee County High School in 1963, Linda attended Mississippi State College for Women and graduated in 1967 with a degree in Business Education. She taught business classes for thirty years at St. Cloud High and Beaumont Middle Schools in St. Cloud, FL and at Neptune Middle School in Kissimmee, FL. There she met and married Elmer Edward “Butch” Horn  in 1970. During their forty-three years of marriage, they enjoyed traveling together across the United States and metal detecting as a hobby. Upon Butch’s death in 2013, she moved back to Brooksville to take care of her elderly mother. Throughout her life Linda was a devoted daughter and wife, as well as a faithful friend, who enjoyed reading and her beloved caes, “Remle Edward” and “Fuddle” and the many other stray cats that appeared on her doorstep. She cared about spending time with family and friends, especially the “Wine and Whine” group.

She is survived by numerous cousins.
