Kathie Butler Coleman, 66, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Golden Triangle. A funeral service is planned for Monday, January 9, 2023 at 3 p.m. at Soul Harbor Pentecostal Church in Shuqualak, MS. Interment will follow in Butler Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the church from 2-3 p.m. Memorials may be made to Mississippi Kidney Foundation, 3304 N. State St., Jackson, MS  39216.  Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangement.

Kathie Butler Coleman was born in Macon, MS on February 18, 1956 to the late John Astor and Elsie Earline Eaves Butler. She grew up in the Butler Community in Noxubee County. Kathie attended public schools in Shuqualak and later at Nanih Waiya. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years in Texas and Louisiana. Kathie returned to Mississippi where she worked several jobs that she especially enjoyed including Hancock’s, Jacks’, and at Macon Stockyard. She attended Soul Harbor Pentecostal Church in Shuqualak. Kathie loved to fish, spend time with her grandchildren and cook for the entire community. She was known for her quick wit and will be sorely missed by all of her family and her many friends. Kathie was preceded in death by her parents and three of her siblings: Betty Ann McBrayer, Malcomb McBrayer and Frances Butler.

Kathie is survived by her significant other-Nowell Flake of Shuqualak, MS; beloved daughter-Christy Coleman Griffin-Shuqualak, MS, two sisters-Myrtis White of Shuqualak, MS and Sharon Permenter-Pine Springs, MS; and her beloved three grandchildren, Justin White, Raelee White and Clara Griffin.
