Katherine Higginbotham Moore

Mrs. Katherine Moore, 90, of Macon, MS passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Noxubee General Hospital in Macon, MS.  A funeral service is planned for Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Macon, MS.  Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dementia Society,  P.O. Mrs. Katherine Higginbotham Moore was born in Gholson, MS on September 4, 1928 to the late Albert Lenton and Annie Kate Butler Higginbotham. She attended Shuqualak School. After graduation, she married Fred Moore on her birthday in 1947. Katherine worked at Cal-Jac for twenty five years after which she retired to spend more time with her family.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed her church family and her special visit each week with Ray Penick.  Katherine love working in her yard and sitting on the porch to enjoy the “fruits” of her labor. She would bundle up for the coldest weather to be outside, however she refused to wear shorts when it was sweltering hot,”because my legs are too ugly”!  . She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred Moore and  sisters;  Sally Walker and Clytee Kinard.

Mrs. Moore is survived by her sons: Freddie Moore of Tupelo, MS and Gene Moore of Macon, MS;  sisters: Doris Goodin of Macon, MS and Dean Vandevender of Louisville, MS; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
