Joe (J.B.) Boykin, 78, passed away January 10, 2020 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.
He leaves his three children; Kathy Boykin Wright, Joe Bert Boykin Jr., Kim Boykin Whitten her husband Whitt Whitten, and his nine grandchildren; Austin Wright, Conner Whitten, Carsen Whitten, Ginny Wright, Catherine Whitten, Jax Boykin, Bess Boykin, Jane Kate Boykin, and John Baker Boykin. He is also survived by his brother, Bob Boykin, his wife Shirley, and several nieces and nephews.
He also leaves his significant other, Beth Kinard Clark; Beth’s daughter; Lindsey Clark Watkins, and Lindsey’s children; Lily Watkins, and Kinsley Watkins.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joe Baker Boykin and Bertha Harrell Boykin, his two brothers; David Boykin and Wayne Boykin.
Joe was born August 15, 1941 in Macon, MS. He attended school in Macon, MS in Noxubee County.
He joined the Navy in 1959 where he served four years. After an honorable discharged in 1963, he attended IBM school in Memphis, TN. After graduating IBM school, he worked at various Data Processing Companies. In 1969, he moved to Louisville, MS and started a career at Taylor Machine Works, now known as the Taylor Group, where after 41 years, he retired as Financial Data Processing Director.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Cockrell Funeral Home, 3478 Jefferson Street, Macon, MS. with Bro. Bill Ross officiating. The funeral will be immediately following visitation at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital, 848 Adams Ave., Memphis, TN 38103 or Brooksville Cemetery Fund, c/o Melanie Hines, 586 Hines Rd., Brooksville, MS 39739. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
