Jerry Wayne Lunsford, 72, of Scooba, MS passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022, at UAB surrounded by his family. A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 16, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Scooba, MS. A visitation will be held at Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon, MS, Wednesday, June 15, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. Memorials may be made to UAB Hospital, 1802 6th Ave S., Birmingham, AL 35233. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the service arrangements.

Jerry was born April 5, 1950, in Meridian, Mississippi to Mittie Mae and Earl Quitman Lunsford. Jerry was married to the love of his life, Linda Jane Moore for fifty years. In 1970 Jerry graduated from East Mississippi Junior (Community) College and went straight to work for Weyerhaeuser Company located in Scooba, Mississippi. He had a long career working in the forestry field and retired in 2015with 45 years and 5 months of service. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family, loved traveling to see family, enjoyed grilling on the weekends and listening to his classics (The Eagles/CCR/Bob Seeger) on the radio. He loved the great outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Preceding him in death were his parents, Mittie Mae, and Earl Quitman Lunsford and three sisters: Gladys Jean Lunsford, Virginia Earline Farr, and Jeanette Lynda Elliot.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty years Linda Jane Lunsford; his children: Tracy Luke (Robert), Susanne Morgan (Michael) and Amber Floryan (Dave); his grandchildren: Gracie Morgan, Avery Luke, Braden Floryan, Addysn Morgan, Griffin Floryan, Chloe Morgan, Isaac Floryan and Harper Floryan, and one brother: Harold Quitman Lunsford Sr.
