Mrs. Jean Hailey passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022, at her residence. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at Kellis Store in Kemper County, MS. Visitation will be held at Cockrell Funeral Home Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of arrangements.
Martha Jean Edwards Hailey was born on February 23, 1938, in Glen Alan, MS to the late Carthel and Beatrice Franklin Edwards. She was a resident of Kemper County since she was three years old. Jean graduated from Scooba High School and married Mabron Hailey who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a beloved mother and Nana. Jean loved spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for her family especially at Christmas. Jean enjoyed a big garden, and her family was always there to help her with the vegetables when time came to put them up. In addition to her husband, she is also preceded by her daughter, Sissy McKee, one sister and four brothers.
Jean is survived by her loving family: a daughter, Debbie Sciple, two sons: Bud Hailey (Lynn) and Butch Hailey (Mandy) all of Wahalak, MS; a sister, Ann Freeman of Florence, AL; ten grandchildren, Justin Sciple (Taylor), Hailey Johnson (Matt), Taylor Allen (Johnny), Maggie Hall (Hunter), Laura Hailey, Casey Dean, Matt Hailey, Terra Parker (Curt), Dow Hailey (Shelby), and Brooke Hailey; fifteen great grandchildren: Casen Sciple, Chaney Sciple, Hayz Johnson, Mabry Johnson, Kyzer Johnson, Henson Hall, Carson Hall, Maggie Todd, Brooklyn Hardy , Michael Hardy, Hadlee Hailey, Mason Dean, Raelynn Overby, Frankie Parker and Lettie Mae Cook.
