Mrs. Janice Lynn (Jan) Cotton, 58, of Macon, MS passed away at her residence on Thursday, November 23, 2023.
A memorial service will be held at the Life Center, 144 Hale St., Macon, MS at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 2023. Visitation will be held at the Life Center from 2:00 p.m. until service time Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Way, Memphis, TN 38105. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to entrusted with arrangements.
Janice Lynn Stanfield Cotton was born in Columbus, MS., on August 30, 1965, to Curtis Eugene Stanfield and Bessie Foreman Stanfield. She was a 1983 graduate of Lee High School and received her nursing degree at East Mississippi Community College. Jan married Mike Cotton on August 20, 2005. Jan worked as a nurse at Noxubee County Nursing Home for twelve years, concluding her career at Macon Primary Care in Macon, MS. She was well known to be a loving and compassionate nurse who was loved in return by her patients and work family alike. She will be sorely missed by all of them.
Jan enjoyed singing too, but her greatest passion was spending time with her grandchildren and being their “Mimi.”
Jan was preceded in death by her father, Curtis Eugene Stanfield.
She is survived by her husband, Mike Cotton, of Macon, MS, her mother, Bessie Foreman Butler (Jerry) of Hamilton, MS, and her children include Zakk Cotton, Stephen (Kaycie) Tracey and Garrett Tracey; two sisters: Tracy Stanfield (George Winter) Brooklyn, NY and Gail Chaney, Caledonia, MS.; Grandchildren include: Emmalyn Brook Tracey. Addison Grace Corley. Kenslee Louise Tracey, Ellasyn Rayne Tracey, and Amelia Lane Tracey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
