James Edward Robbins Iii

James Edward Robbins, III, 75, of Macon, MS passed away at Elderly Care Center on Friday, March 26, 2021.  A public visitation will be held at Cockrell Funeral Home from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2021. The graveside service is private and for the family only.  In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

James Edward Robbins, III was born in Macon, MS to the late James Edward, Jr.  and Kathleen Kitchens Robbins on May 14, 1945. He graduated from Noxubee High School, East Mississippi Junior College and with a bachelors degree in Agricultural education at Mississippi State University.  In August of 1971, he married Polly Peden. He was a farmer most of his working life and then became a rural mail carrier for twenty-five years until he retired. He was a member of Macon First United Methodist Church. He was active in his community having served in several offices of the Macon Lions Club. He also served on the Board of Directors at Farm Bureau for a period of time.  His favorite past time was dove hunting. He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law, Angela Battle Fincher.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Rose Peden (Polly) Robbins of Macon, MS; three sons: Marcus Jay Peden Fincher (Amy) of Macon, MS, James Edward Robbins, IV (Nancy) of Haltom City, TX, and Anthony John Robbins (Melissa) of Brandon, MS; two sisters: Shirley Spell of Macon, MS and Carolyn Thomas of Shuqualak, MS; and one grandson: Christopher Jay Fincher.
