James White “Jimmy” Adams, 72, of Columbus, Mississippi passed away at his residence on Friday, April 14, 2023. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Salem Memorial Cemetery, 613 Salem Rd., in Macon, MS at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at Cockrell Funeral Home Tuesday from 1 p.m. until service time. Memorials may be made to Salem Memorial Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Ethan Ewing, 101 Elkin Ct., Macon, MS 39341. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
Jimmy Adams was born on May 16, 1950 in Macon, Mississippi to the late Lemuel Stuart Adams, Jr. and Ruth White Adams. He was a 1968 graduate of Noxubee High School . He attended Hinds Community College and East Mississippi Community College. Early in his adult life he worked for Standard Oil in Macon and then later for many years at Weyerhaeuser until he retired. He enjoyed MSU sports and watching NASCAR. He also enjoyed deer hunting.
Jimmy is survived by a brother, Lem Adams and a sister Debra Jones (Roy Byrd) all of Columbus, MS. He is also survived by nephews Stuart Adams of Starkville and Jud Jones (Kristy) of Jackson and nieces Natalie Hegwood (David) of Brandon and Jenna May (Erik) of Gallatin, Tennessee and several great nieces.
