Henry Lamar Jernigan

Mr. Henry Jernigan, 78, of Macon, MS passed away at his residence on Thursday, June 07, 2018. A funeral service is planned for Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Ross officiating. Interment is PRIVATE and for the family only. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation 322 Eighth Ave, 7th Floor, New York, New York 10001.Cockrell Funeral Home is entrusted with the service arrangements.

Henry Lamar Jernigan was born on November 3, 1939 to the late James Henry and Thelma Parks Jernigan in Shuqualak, MS. He attended Macon High School. Henry entered the U. S. Army in 1958 and served with the First Calvary Division in Korea. After his military service ended, Henry returned to Macon and began working with the Jensen family in their bee keeping operation. Later he began working for Valley Gravel Co. in Bigbee Valley, MS before opening his own independent trucking business, which he owned and operated until his retirement. Henry continued to enjoy bee-keeping as well as growing his own grapes and wine-making. He also enjoyed fishing and loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

Henry L. Jernigan is survived by his son: Jim Jernigan and wife Lisa of Macon and by one sister: Jimmye Skipper of Austen, TX. He also leaves behind his two grandsons: A.J. and Neal Jernigan, both of Macon.
