Grady Hunter, Sr., 93, of Macon, MS passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018 at Noxubee County Nursing Home.
A graveside service will be held at Oddfellows Cemetery Sunday, July 1, 2018 at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202. Cockrell Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Mr. Hunter was born on October 29, 1924 to the late Warren Norphlet and Velma C Cockrell Hunter in Macon, MS. He joined the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. After the war, he married Annie Thornton in 1946. After several years, he and his wife and son moved to California where they lived for twenty years. During Mr. Hunter’s time there, he was an evangelist before moving back to Macon. Mr. Hunter worked in wholesales at W.P. Chancellor & Sons Wholesale for twenty years. In, 1983, he became the pastor of Full Gospel Noxubee Christian Center and served there until ill health forced him to turn the ministry over to his son in 2010. Mr. Hunter is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Grady “Jim” Hunter, Jr., and two brothers, Warren N. Hunter, Jr. and Eugene Hunter.
Mr. Hunter is survived by his wife, Annie E. Hunter of Macon, MS and a daughter in law Pat Hunter of Macon, MS.
