Mr. Glover Jack Kinard, 80, of Brooksville, MS passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2019 at Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle Hospital in Columbus, MS. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at Brooksville United Methodist Church at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Kathy Brackett officiating. Interment will follow at Bevill’s Hill Cemetery in Winston County. Visitation will be held at Cockrell Funeral Home on Monday, Feb 4, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.  and at the Church beginning at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday morning. The family requests memorials be made to the Brooksville United Methodist Church % Jerry Kinard  P.O. Box 164 Brooksville, MS 39739 or to the Bevill’s Hill Cemetery Fund 245 Raymond-Williams Rd. Sturgis, MS 39769.

Jack Kinard was born in Brooksville, MS on October 29, 1938 to the late Tom and Sadie Lee Jolly Kinard. He graduated from Brooksville High School and soon moved to St. Louis, MO where he was employed at Sunnen Products for 18 years. While in St. Louis he was active in the local children’s baseball/softball league. He moved back to Brooksville in 1982 and worked as an electrician and also worked in C & K convenience store in Shuqualak. He and his wife, Nettie, then purchased Jack’s Quick Stop, a convenience store in Brooksville which they operated until 2004 when they retired. Jack was a member of the Brooksville United Methodist Church, the Holiday Supper Club and the Brooksville High School Alumni Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising cattle and was a member of the Noxubee County Cattlemen’s Association. Jack loved spending time with all of his family, but especially enjoyed the time spent with his grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Nettie and by three brothers: Joe (Buddy), Walter (Pete), and James Kinard.

He is survived by his wife: Joy Watson Kinard of Brooksville; his daughter: Sondra Cumberland of Brooksville and his son: Rich Kinard of St. Louis, Mo. He also leaves to mourn his passing one sister: Elizabeth (Sissy) Kinard Lyman of Columbus and two brothers: Curtiss Kinard of Caledonia, MS and Jerry Kinard of Brooksville as well as 4 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, step-daughters: Sherri Singh (Nav) of Lyons,  CO. and Dana Hudgens (Chris) of Millport, AL and step-son: Kent Watson (Stephany) of Cedar Bluff, MS.
