Glenda Joan Coleman, 72, passed away Thursday, May 4,2023 at her residence in Shuqualak, MS surrounded by her family. A funeral service is planned for Sunday, May 7,2023 at 2:00p.m. at Shuqualak Baptist Church, 7110 Line St., Shuqualak MS 39361. Interment will follow in Shuqualak Cemetery in Shuqualak MS. Visitation will be held Saturday at the church from 5-8 p.m. and Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until service time. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Glenda Joan Coleman was born September 11, 1950, in Meridian to the late Floyd Collins and Syble White Coker. She grew up in Shuqualak with her four siblings. Glenda graduated from Noxubee County High School. After high school, Glenda went to work for Shuqualak Glove Factory where she worked for many years. In July 1990, she married Eddie Coleman and went to work as his secretary at Coleman Trucking. After Eddie was elected county supervisor, Eddie said that “He may not have been always right on his decisions but Glenda supported him 100% in every way”. She was a wonderful homemaker, taking care of her family, her home and yard. She especially enjoyed taking care of and spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to Branson and Gatlinburg. Glenda was an avid MSU bulldog fan. She was a member of Shuqualak Baptist Church. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Larry Coker and twin sister, Brenda Jane Coker. The family would like to say a very special thanks to home health nurses Tisha Koehn and Shalondia Woods for excellent care they gave Glenda while she was sick.

Glenda is survived by her husband, Eddie Coleman of Shuqualak, MS; daughter, Brandi Casagranda of Bossier City, LA; two sons: Doug Jones (Paige) of Leachville, AR and Gray Coleman (Deanne) of Shuqualak; two sisters, Shirley Boykin (Bob) of Macon, MS and Carolyn Higginbotham (Larry) of Macon; and a brother, Neal Coker (Donna) of West Point, MS; five grandchildren, Jackson Jones, Dalton Hitchcock, Madison Hitchcock, Gracie Coleman and Colt Coleman; an a host of nieces and nephews.
