Georgarene Schmidt Unruh

Mrs. Georgarene Unruh, 85, of Macon, MS passed away at her residence in Macon, MS on Tuesday, February 12, 2019.  Her funeral service will be held at Brooksville Mennonite Church in Brooksville, MS on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church Thursday from 6-8 p.m.  Memorials may be made to Oakwood Manor, 255 Oakwood Drive, Brooksville, MS  39739. .  Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Georgarene Schmidt Unruh entered this earthly life on September 27 1933 in Kiowa County, Greensburg Ks. She was born to Archie and Myrtle Nightingale Schmidt.
Her childhood was spent on a small wheat farm where she helped her dad till the soil. At age seventeen she was born again and baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite. She remained a steadfast Christian until the end.

She married Peter Unruh on February 2, 1958 Their  early married life was spent in Montezuma, Kansas.
Dad and Mom moved to Mississippi with two small children on February 14, 1966. There the new life of farming in the south awaited. In the following years two more children were born. Mom loved being outdoors and helping dad on the farm. She enjoyed animals, nature and embraced the ways of country life.
She was a stay-at-home mom who put her family first.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Peter Unruh of Macon, MS.  Her Children: Greg Unruh, Leland, MS;. Pam Koehn, West Point, MS, David Unruh, Ulysses, KS; Travis Unruh, Macon, MS.;  ten grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; her sister Betty  Nightingale, Huron,  South Dakota and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant grandson, Charles John, one sister and one brother
