Franklin Eugene Koehn

Funeral services for Franklin Eugene Koehn will be held at Southern Star Mennonite Church, Friday, March 13, 2020 at 3:30 p.m. a visitation will be held at the church in Geiger, AL on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Southern Star Mennonite Church, c/o Dalen Holderman, 43361 AL Hwy 17, Emelle, AL  35459.

Franklin Eugene Koehn-husband, father, Papa Frank-was born June 27, 1934 in Cimarron, KS to Herman and Hannah (Jantz) Koehn. He passed away in the early morning hours of March 9, 2020 at Noxubee County Nursing Home. He was 85 years old.

Frank was the oldest of six children.

He was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite at Winton, CA on March 14, 1951 by Minister Jake H Loewen. Even though Frank had his struggles, his desire was to serve the Lord. In recent years, he made an effort to keep his way open. He wanted to make sure he was ready to meet God.

On November 2, 1952, he married Florine, daughter of Joel and Lydia Unruh in Durham, KS. They started married life in California and were together for 67 years. Five children were born to them, a daughter and four sons. In 1978, they moved to Alabama with their two youngest sons. Over the years, Frank provided for his family with a variety of occupations, the highlight being trucking.

His softheartedness was passed down to his sons and grandsons. The family fondly remembers his sincere prayers.

Frank will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Florine, Macon, MS; his children, Lorna and Dale Giesbrecht, Macon, MS; Victor and Audra Koehn, Cole Camp, MO; Jason and Melissa Koehn, Geiger, AL; Cameron and Ruth Ann Koehn, Grifton, N.C.; eleven grandchildren: Layne Giesbrecht, Lynne Anne Koehn, Joel Giesbrecht, Jonathan Wayne Koehn, Andrew Koehn, Joseph Koehn, Nathan Koehn, Matthew Koehn, Megan Koehn, Hannah Koehn, and Donovan Koehn; nineteen great-grandchildren: Zachary Giesbrecht, Danielle Giesbrecht, Lauren Koehn, Linzy Koehn, Leanna Koehn, Brayden Giesbrecht, Bentley Giesbrecht, Alayna Giesbrecht, Malachi Giesbrecht, Jaron Koehn, Titus Koehn, Grady Koehn, Aiden Koehn, Eli Koehn, Tanner Koehn, Ava Koehn, Ryleigh Koehn, Levi Koehn, and Lacey Koehn; also his siblings;  Leon Koehn; Nadine, Mrs. LeVern Jantz, Lillian, Mrs. Frank Koehn, Leanna Cocconi; and many in-laws; nieces, nephews and friends. Frank was preceded in death by one infant son, Jonathan Roy; one great grandson, Micah John Giesbrecht; and one brother , Galen Koehn.
