Mrs. Eula M Bauer, 94, formerly of Shuqualak, MS passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019 at NMMC, Tupelo, MS. A graveside service will be held Monday, January 28, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Macedonia Cemetery, 3247 Honey Lake Rd., Shuqualak, MS 39361. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
Mrs. Bauer was born in the Macedonia community on November 25, 1924, one of four children. She completed her eighth- grade education in Noxubee County, then moved and graduated from Greenville’s Bass High School. She married James W. Bauer on February 2, 1946, and ended her career as a legal secretary to support him as an Air Force wife. Following a thirty-year career which took them to postings in Massachusetts, Okinawa, New York State, Texas, Germany, Illinois, and back to Texas; they retired back to Noxubee County. During this time she raised two children, enjoyed the company of her granddaughter, and served as caregiver for her mother and several other elderly relatives. Mrs. Bauer is preceded in death by her husband, James W. Bauer; her parents: Jeff W. and Jackie Vashti Maxey Thomas; her brother: Earl “Dick” Thomas all of Noxubee County, MS; and Jack “Irby” Thomas, Sr. of Fort Pierce, FL.
Mrs. Bauer is survived by her children: Karen Elizabeth Bauer Burke and Charles David Bauer both of Tupelo, MS; granddaughter: Whitney Allysha Bauer Boggs (Blake) of Katy, TX; sister: Maxine “Dink” Weaver of Columbus, GA; sister-in-law: Nellie Thomas of Noxubee County; nephews: Larry Thomas, Jack Thomas, Jr., Thomas Weaver, and niece, Jackie Thomas Thompson.
