Ernestine Mcbride Lindley

Mrs.  Ernestine McBride Lindley, 88, of Macon, MS passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Elderly Care Center in Macon, MS. A funeral service is planned for Sunday, December 10, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Macon. Interment will be in the Salem Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the church from 2-3 p.m.  Memorials may be made to Salem Cemetery Fund, c/o Ethan Ewing, 21 Elkin Ct, Macon MS  39341. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Ernestine McBride Lindley was born on April 4, 1935, in Cochrane, Alabama to the late Stephen Arthur and Lucy Mae Smith McBride. She was a graduate of Aliceville High School, Class of 1953. Ernestine married Will Lindley on September 17, 1954, and they made their home in Macon, MS. Ernestine was a member of First United Methodist Church, Macon, MS. She worked at the Noxubee County Health Department as a Medicaid specialist until her retirement.  After she retired, Ernestine became an avid traveler. She enjoyed puzzles in her spare time and listening to Elvis Presley music.  Ernestine looked forward to spending time with her family and sharing meals together. She spent her last years at Elderly Care Center in Macon and the Bee Hive of Starkville, where she enjoyed making new friends.
Ernestine is preceded by her parents, husband, Will E. Lindley, siblings: Betty Cotton, James McBride, and Leon McBride.

Ernestine is survived by her daughters: Kay Papas (Pete) and Lynda Cooper (Mike) all of Macon, MS; sister: Janice Stephens of Cochrane, AL; three grandchildren, Chris Cooper (Madison), Leah Agnew (Michael) and Nicholas Papas; and four great grandchildren: Abby, Marye Lennon, Cooper and Rowan.
