Elizabeth Lipsey Wright

November 17, 1927 — August 8, 2020

Mrs. Elizabeth Lipsey Wright, 92, of Brooksville, MS passed away at Trinity Healthcare on Saturday, August 8, 2020.  A private graveside was held Monday, August 10, 2020 at Brooksville Cemetery with Pastor Kathy Brackett officiating. Memorials may be made to Brooksville Cemetery, 586 Hines Rd, Brooksville, MS  39739 or Trinity Healthcare, 230 Airline RD, Columbus, MS  39703.  Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Elizabeth Lipsey Wright was born on November 17, 1927 to the late William Tolifero and Ellie Mae Edmonds Lipsey in Carrollton, AL.  She was a graduate of Carrollton High School. Elizabeth was married to Henry Lavert Wright for 56 years. He preceded her in death in 2003. She was the last remaining of eight siblings: Oliver Lipsey, Robert Lipsey, infant John Lipsey, Sara Lou Sims, Margaret Thaxton, Ellen Gray, Rebecca Coleman and Jo Etta Wright. Her son-in-law, Bill Butler also precedes her in death.

Elizabeth moved to Noxubee County from Carrollton, Alabama in 1957. She was a bookkeeper for Cade Hardware in Brooksville for many years. She enjoyed quilting, baking (especially cheese straws) and working in her yard. Elizabeth was a loving mother, grandmother and housewife. After she moved to Trinity Healthcare, she enjoyed coloring and crocheting.

Elizabeth leaves behind her daughters: Lucretia Cole and Becky Butler, both of  Brooksville, MS. Grandchildren: Hank (Renee) Butler, Liza (Eric) Ross, Ben (Melissa) Butler, and Jake (Angel) Cole; seven grandchildren: Avery, Ashton, Claudia, Olivia, Natalie, Mary Gwen, and Georgia Grace; two step-great grandchildren Joey (Christy) and Justin.
