Mrs. Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Hill Hankins, 79, of Starkville, MS passed away on September 25, 2021, at the Diversicare Nursing Home in Eupora, MS. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 10:00 A.M. at Brooksville Cemetery at 10:00 in Brooksville, MS. The family requests that memorials please made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the service arrangements.
Elizabeth Ann Hill was born on November 26, 1941, to the late Arnold and Mattie Ben Little Hill in Macon, MS. While living in Brooksville, she grew up going to Brooksville Baptist Church. Elizabeth graduated from Macon High School in Macon, MS and attended the Mississippi State College for Women. Elizabeth married James Hankins and they moved to Florida where she became a member of the Holt Baptist Church in Holt, Florida. She worked as a substitute teacher while in Florida. Later they made their home in Starkville where she lived the rest of her days. Mrs. Hankins was a housewife and homemaker and she enjoyed doing crafts.
Mrs. Hankins is survived by her husband: James Hankins and two children: a daughter: Lezlie McCoy Smith and a son: Lynn W. McCoy. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother: Ernest Hill and her sister: Polly Hill Murphy.
