Robert Doyle Cummins, 77, of Macon, MS passed away Monday, November 14 ,2022 at Rush Hospital in Meridian, MS. A funeral service is planned for Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be  in Cedarlawn Cemetery  at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Philadelphia, MS. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 510, Macon, MS  39341. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Doyle Cummins was born on August 5, 1945, in Cary, Mississippi to the late Wynis Wayne and Kate Lamb Cummins. He was a graduate of Anguilla  High School. He served in the U.S Army during the Viet-Nam era, serving in Germany. He began working for the Mississippi Valley Gas Company at age 18 and married the former Norma Alice Johnson on September 28, 1968. They moved to Macon in 1973 with Mississippi Valley Gas Co. after his service with the company in several other towns across Mississippi. After 43 years of service, Doyle retired and remained in Macon. Doyle was an active and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Macon and was currently serving as the Chairman of the Deacons. He was a faithful servant of the church and was a very humble man. He had attended World Changers several times. Doyle was active in the Boy Scouts of America and had served as a Cub Scout Master of the local Pack. He had been active in the Jolly 20 and Frith Lake Clubs socially. Doyle’s passion was golf and he was a consistent prize-winner in the week-end scrambles as well as the club tournaments at the Zach Brooks Golf Course in Macon. He was also a very good wood worker who could build anything that he saw in a picture. Doyle was very active in helping the shut-ins of Macon and was a steady partner in the Macon Work Center Mission.

Doyle is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, and one sister.

Doyle is survived by his wife, Norma J. Cummins of Macon, MS and their son, Scott Cummins. Also surviving him is a sister, Betty Wanker of Greenville, MS
