Dorothy Ann Carr Taylor was born on November 12, 1938 at home in Winston County to the late George Everette Carr and Hazel Irene Moore Carr. She grew up near Macon and graduated from Brooksville High School in the Class of 1956. She attended MSCW following her high school graduation. She married Robert Lindley Taylor on December 16, 1956. While her daughter was young, Dorothy was a homemaker and in 1961, she moved to Illinois with her family. She later worked as a bookkeeper while living in Illinois. In 1994 she and her husband moved back to Macon where she enjoyed the opportunity to be closer to family. She enjoyed being an active part of lives of her daughter and grandchildren, monitoring many backyard football games and teaching the grand kids how to play poker. She had a special bond with her sister, Patricia Gauntt, they talked to one another every day at 10 o’clock, morning and night.
Dorothy was a member of Eastern Star and was active in the Noxubee County Republican Women’s group after her return to Macon. She was a life-long gardener, always up to something in the dirt. She was a lifelong artist who’s medium was crochet. She carried her crochet everywhere she went, always working on the next project, the next Christmas gift, or the next blanket for a new baby in the community.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother: Billy George Carr, her husband, and her son: Robert L. Taylor, Jr.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter: Angelia; four grandchildren: Graydon Walton Carruth (Lane) of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Lindley Francoeur (Paul) of Sarasota, Florida, Laura Marie Condry of Johnson City, Tennessee, and Adam Taylor Carruth (Courtney) of Macon, and by five great-grandchildren: Connor, Quinn “George,” and James Condry, Tinsley Ann Francoeur, and Alayna Gaylord, as well as sisters Patricia Gauntt and Camille Carr, both of Macon. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other family members.
