Dorothy Cotton Harvey moved into her new Heavenly home on June 4, 2021, after a wonderful 81 years of life in this world. Born on April 15, 1940, she was the eighth child blessed to the union of Jack and Louise McCreight Cotton and grew up in the Macedonia community near Shuqualak, MS. Born into a large family in the World War II era, she was instilled early with a strong work ethic that stayed with her through-out her life. Dot married Wayne Studdard, Sr. in November, 1957 and they have four children, Debbie, Tammy, Nina and Wayne. They were married for a number of years.  After leaving home, “Mrs. Dot” as she was known to all, worked at a garment factory in Columbus, MS before moving to Macon, MS where she found employment at the glove factory and later at another garment factory, Cal-Jac, which was in Macon. Never a person to fear a challenge, she learned to weld and worked for several years as a welder at the B & W boiler manufacturing plant in West Point, MS. In 1979, she married her true love, Oliver Harvey, and they spent the rest of their lives enjoying each other’s company.  Mrs. Dot opened Fun Fashions, a women’s apparel boutique, in Macon and operated it for eight years. Then she and Mr. Oliver together opened the Jefferson Street Antiques and Collectibles, where they had a little bit of everything available for purchase. She enjoyed seeing her friends at the store. After Oliver’s death, she continued operating the store until she retired.

Mrs. Dot was the “center pivot” of her family and was always active in whatever was going on. She could not be still. She always had time for her ever-growing family, even to the point of taking care of grandchildren and sometimes beating them on their video games. Not only was she loved by her family, but Mrs. Dot was also loved by all who met her. She radiated Christian love which attracted everyone to her. On her few moments of rest and relaxation, she found peace in her garden, enjoying her plants and the songs of the birds. Mrs. Dot was always a gracious person who loved her Lord, her family, and her friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Eloise Lybarger, Shirley Schallert, Marie Abrams, Jean Cooper; Brothers: Paul Cotton, Edward Cotton, and Jimmy Cotton.

Mrs. Dot is survived by her loving family: Son: Andy Harvey; daughters: Debbie Jourdan (Terry); Tracy Skinner (Bill); Tammy Sudduth (Steve);  Nina Boykin (David); and son Wayne Studdard; grandchildren: A.J. Harvey, Dusty Jourdan, Cameron Jourdan, Terry Jourdan, Jr., Adam Kizziah, Will Skinner, Lee Skinner, Brian Suddduth, Tony Sudduth, Chris Sudduth, Codye Estes, Sy Hunter, Connor Boykin,   Kayla Studdard, and Heather Sisson;  great grandchildren: Dawson Harvey, Raylan Harvey, Hallee Rae Jourdan, Walt, Maisie, & Bertie Kizziah , Avery, Brooke and Rylee Skinner, Brendan Sudduth, Hunter Buchanan, Gage Buchanan, Bryson Tolbert, Stella Sudduth, Aubrey and Evelyn Estes, Baker Hunter, Rowan Myles, Avery Sisson, And Amelia Sisson; sister: Alice Slawson and sister in law: Sue Cotton.
