Mrs. Dorothy Elloine Boykin, 95, of Brooksville, MS passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Noxubee General Hospital in Macon, MS. A graveside service is planned for Friday, June 1, 2018 at Brooksville Cemetery immediately following a visitation at Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel from 11-12 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, 322 Eighth Ave, 7 th Floor, New York, NY 10001. Cockrell Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Dorothy Elloine Woolbright was born on March 1, 1923 in Millport, AL to the late Aaron Johnny and Ada Ernestine Sanford Woolbright. She and her family moved to Mississippi when she was young girl. She graduated from Brooksville High School. After graduation, Mrs. Boykin went to work in Washington, D. C. working for the FBI where she was employed for four years upon which she returned home and married Earl Boykin in September 1951. Mrs. Boykin was a homemaker and longtime member of Ruhama Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school. She was a mama to a lot of boys. Mrs. Boykin was a resident of the Noxubee County Nursing Home for the past six years. She enjoyed gardening, jigsaw puzzles but most of all she enjoyed loving on her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Earl Boykin.
Mrs. Boykin is survived by her daughters: Kathy Hairston of Thompson Station, TN and Mickie Boykin of Cookeville, TN; her sons: Wayne Boykin of Nokomis, ILL and Tommy Boykin of Shuqualak, MS; her sisters: Ouida Porter of Mobile, AL and Joyce Jones of Newton, MS; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
