Doris Britt Moore

Doris Moore, 90, of Lucedale, MS passed away at George County  Regional Hospital, Lucedale, MS on Thursday, November 14, 2019. A funeral service is planned for 11:00 a.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel in Macon, MS. on Saturday, November 16, 2019.  Interment will follow in Brooksville Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the funeral home thirty minutes prior to the service.  Memorials may be made to Palmer Home for Children, P.O. Box 746, Columbus, MS  39703.  Cockrell Funeral Home in honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Doris Britt Moore was born on August 17, 1929 in Noxubee County, MS to the late Jay Harlan and Daisy Pearl Beaman Britt. .  She attended Brooksville High School.  She retired from Cinderella Garment Factory as a supervisor. She and her husband , Bill Moore, lived  in Moss Point, MS for twenty eight years.  After retirement they moved to Brooksville, MS.  Doris  worked at  the T-W-L store in Macon, MS for many years. Recently she moved to Lucedale to be closer to her family.  She was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church in Lucedale, MS. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Bill Moore; two sisters, Juanita Hildreth and Maggie May Miller; a brother, Jack Britt ; grandson, Christopher Sward; and son-in-law, Hiram Wadell.

Mrs.  Moore is survived by her two daughters: Jane(Geoffry)  Hall and Joan Waddell; grandchildren: Stephanie (Joe) Hollingsworth; Jeanette Shadrick, Malinda (Steven) McCool; great- grandchildren: Geoffrey Sward, Ashton Sward, Amanda Hollingsworth, Justin Sward, Cody Hollingsworth, Mason Shadrick, Miles Shadrick, Connor McCool, Riley McCool and soon to be great-great granddaughter: Paislee Rose Bolton.
