Doris Mccollum

Graveside services for Mrs. Doris E. McCollum will begin at 1:00 P.M. Monday, August 15, 2022 at Shuqualak Cemetery in Shuqualak, MS with the Reverend Corbin Kill officiating. Interment will follow graveside rites. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. McCollum, 84, passed away peacefully after an extended illness Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Golden Triangle of Columbus, MS.

Mrs. McCollum was the last surviving child of Ervin and Madie Atkinson. She was raised in Meridian and graduated from Long Creek High School. She worked 35 years and retired from Naval Air Station Meridian. She was a member of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE). She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

She was a Christian and a Member of First Methodist Church in Shuqualak. She was a strong supporter of the State of Israel.

Mrs. McCollum is survived by her son, Mark Guy of Oxford; numerous nieces and nephews as well as her dear friend Judy Ford of Lauderdale, MS.

Mrs. Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Madie Atkinson; her husband, Boyd “Mac” McCollum; 3 Brothers and 2 Sisters; former husbands G.H White, Jerry Guy, and Leon Pulley.
