Dixie was born July 24, 1918, in Cooksville, MS. She was the fifth of eight children born to James Edwin and Clara Bell Sanders Sparkman. She was predeceased by her seven siblings and husband, Harrison Carroll Walker, Sr. Dixie graduated from East Mississippi Junior College and the University of Mississippi. She was a member of Phi Mu Sorority, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and a life member of Macon Junior Auxiliary. She was a faithful member of Macon First United Methodist Church.

She also taught Third Grade in Macon for several years but soon realized her husband needed her to be his business manager at their farm implement business, Walker and Sons. Having three sons, she and Carroll never missed one of their ballgames. They also loved traveling and following the MSU baseball team to Omaha, Hawaii, and all around the country. She rarely missed a home game, faithfully sitting behind home plate keeping a score book and became known as the “score book lady”.

Dixie was lovingly called “Dee Dee” by her grandchildren. She loved her family and especially providing a wonderful meal every Saturday for them and any friends who might happen by. Her love for all she met and a genuine interest in everyone she knew will be greatly missed.
